Solar System Overview

Welcome to the official documentation and information page of the 3D Solar System Simulation.

About the Program – The Solar System in 3D

Dive into a fascinating, three-dimensional representation of our solar system that combines scientific precision with an immersive visual experience. The program is equally suited for serious astronomy enthusiasts and anyone who wants to experience our solar system and beyond in 3D. It was designed to bring the vastness of space directly to your PC — smooth, interactive, and detailed.

Astronomical Precision & Visual Experience

Experience the planets and their moons in a lifelike 3D environment. Carefully calculated orbits and position data ensure that you can closely follow the mechanical processes of our cosmic neighborhood. Whether you are gliding smoothly around the sun or observing the planets up close, the free camera control gives you complete command over your journey through space.

Infinite Horizons: Tens of Thousands of Small Bodies & Comets

What makes this program truly special is its dynamic nature and extensibility: In addition to the major planets and moons, the often-overlooked wanderers of space come to life. Using standardized JSON and orbital data available directly from the official website of the Minor Planet Center (MPC), you can load tens of thousands of comets, minor planets, and asteroids into the simulation.

Every single one of these countless objects is displayed precisely at its calculated position in the solar system. You can select them directly and target them with the camera to study their individual orbits and characteristics up close.

Official orbital data and updates for small bodies can be obtained directly via the Minor Planet Center (MPC).
